今や映画だけでなく、音楽も本も漫画もほとんどの作品はデジタル化されている。昔の著作も次々とデジタル版が登場しており、これを利用しない理由はどこにもない。ただ、一方でこういったフォーマットは簡単にコピーが可能で、特に作った際にそれを広く宣言しないと、他の人に盗まれる危険性すらある。
そういったトラブルを防ぐためにアーティストの著作権をブロックチェーン技術を用いて保護するのがBlockaiだ。通常は著作権を登録するのは米国の場合United States Copyright Officeで35ドルから85ドルかかり、登録まで4ヶ月かかるのだが、Blockaiを使うと一作品あたり25〜50セントで10分で登録が完了する。様々なオプションがあるが、一番安いのは10クレジットあたり5ドルというパッケージとなる。
