Wifi Hotspot同士をつなぎあわせてメッシュネットワークを作るという話自体は登場から随分長い時間が経っており、もはや珍しくはない。ただし、Veniamはそれを適用する場所を変えたという点で新しい。
VeniamはWifi Hotspotを走行するバスやタクシーなどの車両に展開し、それらをつなぎあわせることで都市内にメッシュネットワークを作る。また、ネットワークを利用してそれらの車両が通過する都市中のデータを収集することで他の用途にも利用しようとしているとのことだ。
